(Undated)– Several northwest Iowa airports will share in 25 million dollars in federal grants awarded to 39 airports throughout the state.
Locally, Algona will receive 142,500-dollars to install navigational aids and to construct a maintenance building; Cherokee was awarded nearly 34-thousand dollars for navigational aids; Emmetsburg will get 725-thousand and Estherville 88-thousand dollars for runway rehabilitation projects.
The Orange City Airport was awarded 133-thousand dollars for an airport master plan study and an environmental study; Sheldon received nearly 193-thousand to rehabilitate a taxiway; and the Northwest Iowa Regional Airport in Spencer was awarded 114-thousand dollars to purchase snow removal equipment.
The grants were announced today (Wed.) by the U-S Department of Transportation and Senator Tom Harkin’s office.
