Federal Drug Charges Pending In Clay County Search

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says federal drug charges are pending in connection with a search warrant executed last week on a residence in the Webb area.

The search took place Tuesday, June 24th at a storage shed at 4740 290th Avenue in Webb…the Tara Koenig residence. Authorities also searched the person of Thomas Joynt of Webb and a pickup he owns.

Authorities say the searches were the result of information the Clay County Sheriff’s Office received alleging Joynt was manufacturing methamphetamine in the storage shed at Koenig’s residence. Authorities say the search turned up multiple pieces of evidence corroborating the information. Authorities say no charges have been filed at this time. However, they say the search is part of an ongoing investigation and that federal narcotics charges will be brought against those involved.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Tactical Team, the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Fire Marshall’s Office, Clay County Attorney’s Office and the Division of Narcotics Enforcement.

The sheriff’s office says it’s just now releasing the information because of the sensitivity of the investigation.
