(Sioux City)– Federal drug and firearms charges have been filed against a Hartley man.
32-year-old Douglas Wayne Nielsen has been charged with one count of conspiracy to distribute and manufacture methamphetamine within a thousand feet of the Hartley City Park, and employing a person under the age of 18 to commit violations of federal drug laws.
Nielsen was also charged with three counts of being a felon in possession of firearms and three counts of being an unlawful user of controlled substances in possession of firearms.
U-S Attorney Kevin Fletcher says the charges are in an indictment filed July 23rd of this year that was unsealed Wednesday in U-S District Court in Sioux City.
If convicted Nielsen faces a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison with a possible maximum sentence of life in prison along with an eight million dollar fine and 10 years up to life on supervised release following any imprisonment.
Nielsen was ordered held without bond. Trial is set for December 1st.
