Farmers Urged To Be On The Lookout For Power Lines

November 23, 2014

(Estherville)– Local power companies are reminding farmers to look up this harvest season.

Terry Bruns, General Manager of Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative, says farmers need to make sure they won’t be getting in the way of overhead power lines when they’re moving tall equipment such as augers. He says there was one such incident last week in Butler county in which a farmer and his son were electrocuted.

Bruns says if you need a power line raised to move something, you should contact you local power company and make the proper arrangements.
