E’Ville Man Charged In Domestic Disturbance

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– An Estherville man has been charged in connection with a domestic disturbance Tuesday evening in Estherville.

Police say they were called to 409 7th Avenue North around 6:30 p.m. Upon arriving a woman told officers 52-year-old David Hatland had fired a gun in and outside the home, and at her vehicle.

An arrest warrant was issued for Hatland. Officers unsuccessfully attempted to contact him by telephone. They eventually entered the residence and Hatland was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the residence turned up several firearms, including a 22 caliber revolver. Officers also found evidence suggesting several shots were fired in the house along with two shots that were fired into the victim’s vehicle.

Hatland was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon…a class “C” felony; and domestic assault…a serious misdemeanor. He was booked into the Emmet county jail on a 32-thousand dollar bond.

Police say additional charges are likely.
