(Estherville)– A subdivision proposed for an area just west of Estherville’s existing city limits cleared another hurdle Monday.
The Estherville city council approved a preliminary plat for Country Club Estates, consisting of 49 residential lots near the water tower. The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission has already approved the preliminary plat.
The council also set April 4th as the date for a public hearing to voluntarily annex the area into the city. A recent consultation hearing with various taxing entities that would be affected drew no opposition.
In other business, the Estherville city council awarded the low bid of 48,649-dollars from Randy Helmers Construction of Estherville for rehabilitating the taxiway at the airport. The bid still has to be authorized by the federal government, which is helping finance the project.
The bid came in below the engineer’s estimate of 84,600-dollars.
Construction is slated for this spring.
