Estranged Husband Charged In Alleged Abduction Of A Jackson Woman

(Jackson, Mn.)– The estranged husband of a Jackson, Mn. woman has been charged in her alleged abduction.

Jackson police say they received a call shortly before 9:00 this (Thurs.) morning requesting they check the welfare of Shirley Zimmerman of Jackson. Upon arriving, officers found the residence had been forcefully entered, and her vehicle was missing.

A friend contacted Shirley on a cell phone and it was learned she had been abducted, allegedly by her estranged husband, 35-year-old Albert Zimmerman.

Authorities were able to obtain a description of the vehicle Zimmerman was in. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office located it around 12:30 p.m. Albert Zimmerman was taken into custody, and Shirley Zimmerman was freed unharmed. Albert Zimmerman is being held at the Jackson County jail on charges of kidnapping and burglary.

The Jackson Police Department was assisted by the Jackson and Martin County Sheriff’s Offices, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota State Patrol.
