Estherville Police Investigate Shooting

(Estherville)– Estherville police are investigating a shooting Wednesday evening that injured one person.

Authorities say they received a report shortly before 8:00 p.m. from an unidentified individual that had a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Authorities say the victim initially reported it was the result of a driveby shooting. However, upon further investigation, police say they determined it was NOT a driveby shooting, and there is no danger to the public.

The victim, who’s name hasn’t been released, was taken by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital and was treated for a shotgun wound to the abdomen. The injury wasn’t believed to be life threatening.

Estherville police say evidence was collected at the scene and interviews have been conducted, and that the incident remains under investigation.
