Emmetsburg Teens Injured In Highway 18 Rollover

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Two Emmetsburg teens were injured in a one-vehicle accident Thursday evening on Highway 18 three miles east of Emmetsburg.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says 15-year-old Jessica Kinnetz of Emmetsburg was driving a 1999 Ford truck eastbound when the vehicle left the road to the right. Authorities say Kinnetz over-corrected, causing her to lose control. The vehicle skidded across the road into the north ditch, where it rolled, ejecting Kinnetz. The truck came to rest in a field on the driver’s side.

Kinnetz and a passenger, 18-year-old Kelsey Staiert of Emmetsburg, were taken by ambulance to Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Kinnetz was later transferred by helicopter to a Mason City hospital. The extent of their injuries wasn’t available.

The 1999 Ford truck, owned by Kelsey Staiert, was totaled.

The mishap took place around 8:30 p.m.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Emmetsburg Police Department.

Authorities say charges are pending.
