(Estherville)– An Emmetsburg man is charged in connection with a stabbing in Estherville.
Estherville Police Chief Brent Shatto says officers were called to 503 South 10th Street in Estherville on Tuesday after getting a report of an assault with a knife. Upon arriving Shatto says officers located a man at that address bleeding from his left arm. The suspect later was seen coming out of the residence and eventually complied with orders from police. That person, 29-year-old Darrius Taylor of Emmetsburg, was detained.
Upon investigating officers learned there had been a verbal argument that escalated when the two people involved armed themselves with knives, and that 37-year-old Joshua Mitchell was then stabbed in the left arm.
Taylor was arrested and transported to the Emmet County Jail where he was charged with willful injury resulting in bodily injury…a class D felony. At last report Taylor was still in jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
The victim was treated at Avera Holy Family Hospital and was released.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and Estherville Ambulance assisted on the scene.
