(Estherville)– The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office announced today (Thursday) an investigation is underway into the death of a man who’s body was found back on September 11th at Fort Defiance State Park near Estherville.
According to a press release, deputies were called a little before 9:00 am that morning after getting a report of a man who was unresponsive on the ground. Upon arrival deputies determined the man was deceased. He was later identified as 26-year-old Cole Lacko. The release doesn’t say where he’s from.
Authorities say a cause or manner or death hasn’t been determined. The State Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an autopsy. They add that further tests, including toxicology, have also yet to be performed.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says there is no danger to the public and that activities at Fort Defiance should continue as normal.
Authorities say no additional information will be released until the final report from the Medical Examiner is completed.
