Emmet County Authorities Investigate Rash Of Burglaries

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a rash of burglaries that occurred late last Thursday night or early Friday.

Sheriff Mike Martens says the first report was received shortly after 6:00 a.m. Friday. Martens says an employee reported the Great Lakes Elevator office in Gruver had been broken into. Upon investigating deputies determined entry was gained by forcing open a door to an office area. An undisclosed amount of cash was reported missing.

Upon leaving the scene of that burglary, the same deputy discovered the city hall in Gruver had also been broken into. Entry there was gained by removing a window. An office door was kicked open, but nothing was reported missing.

At about 8:00 a.m. Friday the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office received another call reporting a burglary at the Ringsted Telephone office. Upon investigating deputies determined entry to that business was gained by forcing open a door. An undisclosed amount of cash was reported missing.

Martens says all three incidents remain under investigation. He encourages anyone who sees anything they believe to be suspicious to report it to their local law enforcement agency.
