Electric Transmission Company Contributes To Lakeside Lab

November 22, 2014

(Wahpeton)– Environmental education programs at Lakeside Lab on the west side of West Lake Okoboji will get a boost thanks to a contribution from ITC Midwest, LLC.

The company, which owns and operates the electric transmission system in the region, contributed two thousand dollars to Friends of Lakeside Lab in support of the lab’s public outreach efforts.

Lakeside Lab Executive Director Peter Van der linden says the gift will touch hundreds of lives, especially the students who are coming to the facility in increasing numbers for environmental and science education programs.

ITC Midwest has been active in the area since acquiring the electric transmission lines from Alliant Energy’s Interstate Power and Light Company subsidiary in December 2007.

In Dickinson county, ITC has connected the Lost Lakes Wind Farm and is currently working to rebuild a 69 kilovolt line that runs from the company’s Triboji substation west of West Lake Okoboji to Cornbelt Power Cooperative’s Milford substation.
