(Emmetsburg)– A 21-year-old man is dead after drowning over the weekend at Five Island Lake near Emmetsburg.
Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say Ryan Sidles of Emmetsburg drowned Sunday afternoon as he was swimming out to a buoy in the south bay area.
He was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he died.
The drowning is under investigation.
