(Spirit Lake)– An investigation into a report of a stabbing earlier this week in the East Okoboji Beach area landed two Spirit Lake men in jail.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says it received a 911 call Tuesday evening regarding a stabbing that had taken place in the 25000 block of Teresa Avenue. Upon investigating deputies determined there had been an altercation between two brothers: 53-year-old Mark Scheerhorn and 51-year-old Scot Scheerhorn…both of Spirit Lake. Authorities say Scot Scheerhorn had been stabbed in the hand and head. He was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare where he was treated and released.
While inside the residence investigating, deputies discovered what’s alleged to be marijuana. They then obtained and executed a search warrant on the residence. It resulted in authorities finding what’s alleged to be a marijuana growing operation. 65 plants in various growth stages were seized, along with equipment used to manufacture marijuana, marijuana products and paraphernalia.
Mark Scheerhorn was arrested and charged with willful injury; interference with official acts; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver…marijuana; manufacturing a controlled substance…marijuana; and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
Scot Scheerhorn was arrested and charged with assault while participating in a felony; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver…marijuana; manufacturing a controlled substance…marijuana; and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
Both men were booked into the Dickinson county jail.
