Early Morning Fire Damages Wahpeton Trailer House

November 23, 2014

(Wahpeton)– A trailer house in Wahpeton was damaged by fire early this (Tues.) morning.

Milford Fire Chief Don Eckard says his department was called to the Bob and Donna Bargman residence at 1903 Manhattan Boulevard around midnight. Upon arriving, Eckard says firefighters found the back end of the trailer on fire.

Eckard says they were able to extinguish the blaze by taking out a portion of a wall between the bathroom and a bedroom. He says that’s where the worst of the damage occurred. Eckard says it was so hot in the bedroom that some plastic items started to melt. Smoke damage was reported throughout the rest of the trailer.

The Bargmans were home at the time and attempted to put out the blaze themselves. Eckard says it’s a good thing they were there or the fire would have been much worse.

While the blaze started near a water heater, Eckard says an investigation is underway into the cause. The State Fire Marshall is assisting.

No injuries were reported.

The Milford Fire Department was on the scene about an hour and-a-half.
