Drug/Gun Charges Filed Against Buena Vista County Man

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– A routine traffic stop in Spencer in Spencer has landed a Buena Vista county man in jail on several charges.

Clay county deputy Casey Timmer pulled a car over late Saturday night near the El Nortino Restaurant in Spencer for a traffic violation. A search of the 1994 Pontiac turned up a loaded 45 caliber handgun, a rather large amount of cocaine and a large amount of cash.

The driver, 28-year-old Odilon Vasquez-Ramirez of Sioux Rapids was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed weapon…an aggravated misdemeanor; and possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver…a class “C” felony.

Vasquez-Ramirez was booked into the Clay county jail on bond of 71,500-dollars.

The Iowa State Patrol and the Spencer Police Department assisted in the search and arrest.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says an investigation continues and more arrests are possible.
