(Spencer)– A traffic stop near Gillette Grove has resulted in drug charges being filed against a rural Graettinger man.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies pulled over a vehicle shortly after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday being driven by 42-year-old Ricky Wayne Nissen. Authorities say a check of Nissen’s license showed he was barred from driving and he was placed under arrest.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine, marijuana, precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Nissen was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class “C” felony; possession of precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine, a class “D” felony; failure to affix tax stamps, a class “D” felony; possession of marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
Nissen was booked into the Clay county jail on bond of more than 86-thousand dollars. Proceedings are also under way to forfeit the 1994 Ford Thunderbird he was driving.
A passenger in the vehicle, 48-year-old Beverly Ann Barkhausen of Emmetsburg, was detained but was released pending the outcome of the investigation.
Clay county authorities say the incident has provided them with more information regarding narcotics activities and more arrests are likely.
