(Ruthven)– The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office has charged two Ruthven residents with controlled substance violations.
Mavis Nissen and Robert Peterson have been charged with possession of marijuana…a serious misdemeanor; and second offense possession of methamphetamine…an aggravated misdemeanor. Authorities say the charges stem from an investigation that’s been ongoing since December, 2004.
In addition, Peterson was charged for possessing methamphetamine in Houston Park at Lost Island Lake stemming from an incident in June of 2004. Authorities say Peterson fled on foot after being stopped by conservation officers. He was eventually taken into custody and was initially charged with public intoxication and interference with official acts. The additional meth charge was filed after a substance that was found on Peterson during that incident tested positive for meth.
Peterson was taken into custody on the latter charge Tuesday by Estherville Police on warrants from Palo Alto county. He was transported to the Palo Alto county. Bond was set at 8,450-dollars.
Nissen was arrested today (Wed.) in Ruthven and booked into the Palo Alto county jail. Her bond was also set at 8,450-dollars.
