Drug Charges Filed Against Sioux Rapids Man During Traffic Stop

(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake police have filed drug charges against a Sioux Rapids man who was pulled over Tuesday for three traffic violations.

Authorities say 32-year-old Todd Edward Griffin was stopped around 2:30 a.m. on Highways nine and 71 at Peoria Avenue. Police Chief Jon Martyr says the department’s Canine Unit was used in the execution of a search warrant on the vehicle, which had been impounded for operation without insurance. Martyr says it resulted in the seizure of substances alleged to be methamphetamine and marijuana, along with packaging material commonly used for controlled substances.

Griffin was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver marijuana; possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; prohibited acts; giving false information to a police officer and multiple traffic violations.

Griffin was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
