(Lake Park)– It’s do or die time for a proposal to form a 28E agreement in Dickinson county that would help fund water quality improvement projects.
The proposal needs to be approved by one more city council to become final in its present form. The Lake Park city council is expected to vote on the measure at their meeting at 5:00 p.m. today.
All other cities in the county…along with the board of supervisors…have signed on to the 28E.
If it’s defeated by just one governmental entity, the proposal, in its present form, would have to be scrapped. The group that’s promoting the 28E would then have to come up with a new proposal or drop the idea altogether.
Under the proposal, a commission would be formed that would determine how much money each governmental entity would be asked to contribute in a given year. It would also determine which projects would be funded.
