DNR Investigates Emmet County Manure Spill

November 22, 2014

(Estherville)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a manure spill at a cattle feedlot near Wallingford in Emmet county.

The agency says between 200 and 300 gallons flowed across a road and wound up on ice-covered Ingham Lake. Officials aren’t sure how much, but they believe some of the manure actually got into the water. They believe the impact on the lake should be minimal.

The spill was discovered Friday afternoon.

The D-N-R says a board broke on a structure designed to keep run-off from getting into the lake.
