Dickinson Supervisors Consider Adopting Air Quality Standards

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors have directed the county’s board of health to research air quality standards that have been adopted by several other northwest Iowa counties and cities.

Supervisor Paul Johnson brought up the matter at Tuesday’s meeting, saying the state has no intentions of adopting such standards anytime soon.

Johnson says standards would not only apply to livestock operations, but to businesses and industries as well.

All five supervisors agreed the issue will require extensive research. Johnson says it could take months or even years before a recommendation might be ready for consideration.
