Dickinson Supervisors Award Bid On Courthouse Project

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– History was made again today (Tues.) in Dickinson county as the board of supervisors awarded a bid on the courthouse project. The bid was awarded to McHan Construction of Sioux City, which submitted the low bid of 11,546,000-dollars at a letting last week.

Curtis McCline, President of McHan Construction, was on hand for today’s (Tues.) meeting. He says the public will start seeing some things going on as early as next week when crews and equipment will be mobilized.

A groundbreaking is set for August 12th.

Six deductible alternates were included in the specifications for the project in the event the bid came in over estimates. The motion to award the bid included keeping those alternates in the project.

Voters approved a 14.9 million dollar bond issue for the project last September.

The cost of furnishings wasn’t included in the bid that was awarded today (Tues.).

It was also pointed out that contrary to previous reports, the county will not have to pay sales tax on the project.
