(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday awarded a bid of 44,900-dollars from Midstates Asbestos Abatement of Sioux Falls to remove asbestos from the courthouse and County Attorney’s Office prior to those buildings being torn down. The same company removed asbestos from the former gas station and laundromat buildings that were demolished to make room for the new courthouse. The total cost to abate asbestos in the four buildings has come in well below the 125-thousand dollars that was budgeted.
The supervisors also approved another changeorder for the courthouse project for a rubber roof at an additional cost of 1,199-dollars. That brings the total amount of changeorders for the project so far to 82,577-dollars.
The supervisors also set July 12th at 10:00 as the date and time for a public hearing on a request for the county to vacate a portion of 237th Avenue in section 20 of Center Grove Township. Developers of a condominium/indoor water park filed the request.
