(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday approved a request from the Dickinson county Trails Association allowing for a crossing at Peoria Avenue just south of St. Margaret’s Cemetary.
Murphy says it will facilitate plans to expand the trail along the west side of Big Spirit Lake to the Minnesota border…going through Templar Park and Marble Beach.
Murphy says the association is applying for a D-N-R REAP grant that would help fund the project. He says it will probably be several years before they receive the grant money, if they land it. As a result, construction probably wouldn’t start until then. Murphy says construction on the southern part of the project, near the cemetary, could start yet this season as local funding will be used for that.
