Dickinson Supervisors Approve Sewer Request

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday had a change of heart and voted unanimously to approve a permit allowing Lawrence Zech to open cut Francis Sites Road, or 225th Avenue, to hook onto the Iowa Great Lakes Sanitary District line. The supervisors denied the request a week ago. However, they changed their minds Tuesday based on a letter supporting Zech’s request from the Sanitary Sewer District.

The issue renewed concern over the number of septic tanks that have been allowed in the past due to easement problems. Supervisor Chairman David Gottsche suggested the Iowa Great Lakes Cleanwater Alliance earmark money to purchase easements in critical areas.
