Dickinson Supervisors Approve Hirings

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county supervisors Tuesday hired an owner’s representative on the courthouse project; hired someone to oversee the county’s Information Technology Department; and a firm that will evaluate buildings to be torn down to make way for the courthouse project.

The supervisors voted four-to-one to contract with Robert Schlaeger at 30-dollars an hour as the county’s Owner Representative to oversee the courthouse project. Schlaeger starts May 1st. He recently sold his home in Sanborn and will be moving to Spencer. Schlaeger is a retired employee of Kraus-Anderson, one of the largest general contractors in Minnesota. The vote to hire Schlaeger was four-to-one with supervisor Wayne Northey casting the no vote.

The supervisors voted to hire Christopher Peck as the county’s Information Technology Director. The position is part-time at 15-dollars an hour with no benefits and will be limited to 35 hours or less a week.

The supervisors also Tuesday hired Alloy Specialty Company of Council Bluffs at a cost of 7,780-dollars to evaluate the courthouse, former gas station and laundromat buildings; the engineer’s office and County Attorney’s office for asbestos. The firm will provide a written evaluation and the specs to go out to bid to dispose of it if there’s need for removal.
