(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday voted five-to-nothing to sign on to a toxic waste clean-up day to be held sometime later this summer in Milford. The county will contribute no more than $1.50 per household…or slightly more than 5,500-dollars.
The board also unanimously approved a one-year recycling contract with H & H Recycling of Spirit lake for 2,900-dollars a month; approved a contract renewal with Oak Haven…which operates the county’s care facility; and approved a case management contract renewal with Season’s Center.
The supervisors also heard an update from the County’s Weed Commissioner, Dennis Sill. Sill told the board all the rain we received earlier has resulted in a bumper crop of noxious weeds…especially Canadian Thistles. Sill says four letters have been sent out to various property owners so far, and another 30 to 40 phone calls have been made to those that have problem areas. Sill says he’s getting good cooperation so far from landowners.
Anyone that wishes to report noxious weeds may do so by contacting the Dickinson County Engineer’s Office at 336-2944.
