(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission voted Monday to recommend the board of supervisors approve a proposal to establish a Tax Increment Finance District to assist in the relocation of Ferguson Manufacturing to a site west of the elevator on the north side of Lake Street in Spirit Lake. The county is involved because the city of Spirit Lake doesn’t have enough bonding capacity for the project. The bond is in the amount of 700-thousand dollars. The P & Z took the action after learning the proposal is consistent with the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
The P & Z also gave a nod of approval to Jerry Jones for a subdivision he’s proposing on the east side of Big Spirit Lake in an area known as “Jones’ Pasture”. Plans call for 12 lots, each measuring 100 by 150 feet. The subdivision will consist of single family homes with no lake access. The action means the subdivision can proceed to the next step, which is to prepare a preliminary plat.
