(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson and Emmet County Boards of Supervisors have voted to apply jointly for a grant through the Violence Against Women Act.
If awarded, Dickinson County Attorney Ned Bjornstad says the money would fund a full time domestic abuse prosecutor that would be shared between the two counties.
Bjornstad says the application will be submitted Friday and they should know in late May whether or not it’s been approved. If it is, Bjornstad says they hope to fill the position by July 1st.
