(Spirit Lake)– More and more real estate in the Iowa Great Lakes is changing hands at record prices. And Dickinson County Assessor Pat Dodds doesn’t see the trend changing anytime soon. Dodds says typically those transactions tend to slow down in the dead of winter. She says that hasn’t been the case this year.
And Dodds says the pace of new construction only continues to increase. She says there were over 200 new homes and condominiums built this past year in Dickinson county. Dodds says there’s also been a surge in additions and remodeling. She attributes the building activity to the current low interest rates.
Dodds says for the first time ever, Dickinson county’s total valuation last year surpassed a billion dollars.
