(Spirit Lake)..The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors and The Dickinson County Emergency Management met in joint session this (Tuesday) morning at the Dickinson County Community Center. A decision was made by the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors to send a letter to Gov. Chet Culver asking him to invoke his emergency powers to allow the Army Corps of Engineers to make a controlled breech in the southern most end of Lower Gar Lake, which is 230th Avenue. The breech will allow for a controlled release of water depending on the need. This is only a temporary fix. After 30 to 60 days, depending on the flood situation, the breech will be filled.
