(Des Moines)– It took a couple of tries, but the state has approved Dickinson county’s supervisor re-districting plan and Spirit Lake’s new voter precincts.
Secretary of State Chet Culver announced late Tuesday both plans have been approved. His office is required to review and approve such plans under Iowa code…which requires counties, cities and school boards to re-draw precinct and/or ward boundaries every 10 years.
The first plans were rejected by the state on a technicality. They didn’t show boundary lines on the lakes.
The new districts and precincts went into effect immediately after being approved.
Culver says the approval means the county can now select polling places for each district.
