(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors continue to struggle over the outcome of a series of meetings the Iowa State University Extension Service held on the courthouse issue. The supervisors will discuss a summary of those meetings some more at a meeting on Tuesday, as they continue to struggle over whether or not a survey should be conducted on what to do about the courthouse.
As the supervisors remain logjammed on the issue, KUOO news is conducting a survey of its own.
We’ve listed the most common options that have been identified so far on the courthouse issue. They include:
(1.) Build a new courthouse on a new site
(2.) Build a new courthouse on the existing site
(3.) Remodel and build on to the existing courthouse
(4.) Leave the Sheriff’s Office and jail as they are, remodel the second floor of the 1950’s building for court services, and build a new administrative building elsewhere
(5.) Do nothing at all.
