(Spirit Lake)– Members of a committee re-drawing board of supervisors district lines in Dickinson county have come up with a proposal all seem to agree on. The group is in charge of making a recommendation to the board of Supervisors on how to reapportion the county into five supervisor districts each with about the same population.
Under the latest proposal, one district would consist of the city of Spirit Lake south of Highway nine and 71 and the rural portion of Center Grove Township on the west side of East Lake Okoboji.
Another district would consist of the rural portion of Lakeville Township east of highway 86 along with the cities of Wahpeton, West Okoboji and Okoboji.
A third district would consist of that part of the city of Spirit Lake north of Highways nine and 71 along with the city of Orleans and the rural part of Spirit Lake Township west of Highway 276 along with all of Diamond Lake and Silver Lake Townships and the rural portion of Lakeville Township west of Highway 86.
Another district would be comprised of Lloyd, Richland and Superior Townships…including the cities of Terril and Superior, the area east of Highway 276 and that part of Center Grove Township east of East Lake Okoboji including the city of Arnolds Park.
And another district would be made up of Westport, Okoboji and Milford Townships along with the city of Milford. There’s still some question as to exactly what district Excelsior Township would be placed. The committee is still fine-tuning numbers and will make a decision on that later.
The re-districting committee will meet again Friday at 10:00 a.m.
