Dickinson County Attorney-Elect Names Appointments

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– More discussion at Tuesday’s Dickinson county board of supervisors meeting on the upcoming transition in the County Attorney’s office.

Rosalise Olson told the board she intends to appoint Dennis Cmelik of Hartley as an assistant in criminal matters and Lonnie Saunders as her civil assistant. Cmelik was an assistant O’Brien County Attorney for 22 years. Saunders is a Spirit Lake attorney.

Olson says Vanessa Potter, the current Secretary in the office, will continue in that capacity; along with Kris Rienfeld…a domestic abuse prosecutor…and Kris Rowley, victim witness coordinator. Kathy Hargett, Olson’s secretary currently in Emmet county, has been hired as an additional secretary for the Dickinson County Attorney’s office.

Olson says the number of personnel in the office will be the same as it is right now.

The appointments will become official December 31st, when the oaths of office are administered to newly elected officials.

On a related note, the supervisors awarded a low bid of slightly more than 2,700-dollars for a new phone system for the County Attorney’s office; approved the purchase of two new computers for the office at a cost of 2,800-dollars; and approved a proposal to install conduit and computer networking cable between the former Farm Bureau and Engineer’s buildings for 4,256-dollars. The cable and conduit will be bored.
