(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Water Quality Commission will begin accepting applications for its next round of grant applications August 1st.
The commission has up to $200,000 available each year to support various water quality projects for Dickinson county lakes and their watersheds. Funds in the past have been used for monitoring, wetland restoration, educational programs and storm water management projects.
Non-profit organizations are eligible to apply.
Applications must be returned to the Dickinson Soil and Water Conservation District Office no later than 4:30 p.m. October 1st. The projects will be reviewed by the Water Quality commissioners and a decision on grant awards will be made no later than early November, 2010.
Applications are available from the Dickinson Soil and Water Conservation District Office behind Pronto in Spirit Lake during regular office hours.
The Dickinson County Water Quality Commission is comprised of representatives from each city in the county along with representatives from the county.
The commission was established in 2001. Funds have been used a local match toward state and federal water quality funds.
