Dickinson Co. Vows To Crack Down On Those Parking Items On Right-of-Way

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county is vowing to crack down on people parking boat trailers, campers, vehicles and other items on county road right-of-way.

Assistant County Attorney Lonnie Saunders says they’ve been seeing an increase in complaints in some areas where the items are blocking visibility…creating a safety hazard.

Saunders says violators will be notified when a specific complaint is lodged against them. They’ll receive a written notice giving them five days to move the item(s) or to request an extension from the County Engineer.

Saunders says the county is concerned over the potential for accidents. He says it’s in the property owner’s best interest to make sure the right-of-way isn’t obstructed as he or she could be held personally liable in the event of an accident.
