(Spirit Lake)– The Voluntary Action Center of Dickinson county is taking some time this week to honor and thank local volunteers.
Joan McCulloch is the center’s Executive Director. She says it’s the perfect time to be doing that as this has been designated “National Volunteer Week”.
McCulloch says 64 million Americans volunteer their time, which is nearly 29 percent of the population. She says the percentage is probably even higher in Dickinson county.
McCulloch adds they typically see a higher demand for volunteers this time of the year in the lakes area with some of the seasonal operations at museums, reception areas and so on. She says the Voluntary Action Center has contacts with various organizations in the area looking for volunteers. You can call her office at 336-4444 for more information.
