(Spirit Lake)– Representatives of the Dickinson County Conservation Board were at Tuesday’s board of supervisors meeting requesting the supervisors increase a cap on a loan by an additional $50,000. It would bring the total amount of a loan they’re requesting to $200,000. As a stipulation, John Walters of the Conservation Board said they would immediately pay back anything over $150,000.
Walters told the supervisors they’re requesting the increased amount to be on the safe side in case something else comes up with the Nature Center project prior to the board receiving a $200,000 gift from the LaVonne Foote estate for the project. Walters added they’re also concerned the amount of DNR REAP money the county was supposed to receive won’t come in as high as first thought.
The supervisors took no action on the increased loan cap at their meeting Tuesday as it wasn’t on the agenda. They’ll instead act on it at their meeting this coming Tuesday.
The supervisors were also scheduled to hear a request for a county-wide taxi ordinance, but the individual who requested the item be placed on the agenda wasn’t present for the meeting.
