(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors voted three-to-one Tuesday to proceed with the first two phases of an architect’s study into what a fourth courthouse bond issue referendum should consist of.
The amount of the first two phases isn’t to exceed 12-thousand dollars. The motion was made contingent on the Des Moines firm being able to actually do those stages for that amount.
Supervisor Chairman David Gottsche had another commitment and abruptly left the meeting prior to the issue coming up for discussion. Supervisor Wayne Northey voted against the motion, saying he felt it was important all five members were present for such a discussion.
The motion followed an earlier one by supervisor Pam Jordan to proceed with the entire scope of services at a cost not to exceed 50-thousand dollars…saying she feels such money spent up-front would be a good investment. That motion failed though for lack of a second.
