(Arnolds Park)– The Dickinson County Landfill is suspending its brown goods recycling drop-off program that was started last month.
A memo from a consulting firm the landfill has been working says a new program will be implemented this coming July 1st. In the meantime, the memo says Waste Management, owner/operator of the landfill, will work with the county and area cities in developing a new plan.
For now, the memo says brown goods can again be disposed of in the normal solid waste stream.
Representatives of several cities expressed frustration over the brown goods program at a meeting with Waste Management officials last week. The cities were upset they hadn’t been contacted about the program prior to it going into effect March 1st.
Brown goods are things such as radios, televisions, and stereos.
