Dickinson Co. Emergency Management Office To Relocate

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday voted four-to-one to allow the county’s Emergency Management Office to relocate from the first floor of the courthouse to a larger office in the basement.

Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret told the supervisors his current office next to the Sheriff’s Department has become too crowded and that a larger area is needed for meetings and equipment. He added the larger space in the basement would also allow him to set up a small emergency operations center in that area, instead of always having to use the supervisors meeting room for those purposes.

Supervisor Paul Johnson said he was concerned giving up the larger office space not knowing what the future may hold.

Johnson and fellow supervisor Pam Jordan said they want to make sure the new location, which is located near the elevator in the basement, will still be accessible to the public.
