(Spirit Lake)– A one-vehicle crash north of Superior Thursday afternoon has claimed the life of a Minnesota man.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office identifies the victim as 50-year-old Daniel Roger Savig of Olivia, Minnesota. He was pronounced dead at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

A passenger in the vehicle he was driving, 50-year-old Marsha Ann Mariner-Pahl of Estherville, was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare with unknown injuries. There was no immediate word on her condition.

The Sheriff’s Office says Savig was southbound on County Road N-16 near Swan Lake when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the road and went into the west ditch where it impacted the ground and some trees…ejecting Savig.

The mishap took place shortly before 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
