(Spirit Lake)– History was made again Thursday as for the first time ever, the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors met with five members.
David Gottsche was elected chairman for 2003 and Paul Johnson as Vice-Chair. They also approved appointments to various boards and commissions.
The supervisors also voted four-to-one to approve a recommendation from County Engineer Dan Eckert to replace a bridge deck on county road N-14 north of Terril. Christianson Brothers Construction of Cherokee will do the work for a quoted price of 45,600-dollars. Supervisor Paul Johnson cast the lone dissenting vote, saying another quote should have been obtained. Eckert told the board only one other firm in eastern Iowa does similar work, and he doubts the county would have been able to get a better price.
Since the project is under 50-thousand dollars, the county didn’t have to seek bids.
