Dick. Co. Voters Overwhelmingly Approve LOST Extension

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county voters have unanimously approved a 10-year extension of the one cent Local Option Sales Tax for Schools.

1,236 people voted “yes”; only 491 voted “no”…for a 72 percent approval rating.

The current tax was due to sunset in 2010. The renewal means it will continue until 2020.

Spirit Lake Superintendent Tim Grieves says the renewal is vital for Dickinson county schools to continue with their facility improvement plans. Among those in the Spirit Lake district is a new auditorium.
