(Milford)– A portion of last Thursday’s special session of the Iowa Legislature dealt with re-structuring the Iowa Department of Human Services. The measure passed both the House and Senate overwhelmingly.
The re-structuring has drawn concern from some who fear staffing reductions would harm renewed efforts to combat child abuse. State Representative Greg Stevens of Milford voted in favor of re-structuring. He feels it will actually help out the process…saying the revamped agency would be more efficient and streamlined.
The re-structuring will result in the closure of five regional D-H-S offices which will be replaced with eight service centers.
