Developers Interested In Arnolds Park City Campground

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– The future of the Arnolds Park city campground was a topic of discussion at a special city council Wednesday evening.

Blaine Kuchel and Ken Kuchel of East View, Incorporated asked the council if there’s a possibility of the city selling the city campground property sometime in the future. Blaine Kuchel told the council it would be a perfect site for a retail/residential development. He feels it would compliment the adjoining “old town” area and the amusement park.

Kuchel says such a development would probably consist of retail shops on the ground level with residential units above that which would probably be sold.

The council took no action Wednesday evening as to whether or not to sell the land, which also includes the city public works building. The city has been looking at eventually replacing that facility. Mayor Mike Mitchell suggested the council hold off on any decision until something has been decided on a public works building.

One council member, Mike Koppert, said he would be against selling the city campground, no matter how much it may be worth. Koppert says the people of Arnolds Park would never forgive them for such a move. Other council members seemed a little more open to the idea and said they’d atleast be willing to take it under advisement.
