(Sheldon)– Two people were injured Monday when a motorcycle collided with a deer just south of Sheldon.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 32-year-old Chad Baatz of Hospers was driving a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan on the Highway 60 on-ramp when a deer crossed in front of him. Baatz collided with the deer, causing him to lose control.
Baatz and a passenger, 29-year-old Rebecca Nielson of Hospers, were thrown from the motorcycle, which came to rest in the north ditch.
Baatz and Nielson were transported by private vehicle to the Sheldon hospital where they were treated for their injuries.
About 2,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the motorcycle.
The investigation continues.
